Welcome to Africa!
Please can your child have their reading book and planner in school every day.
Each week, children are given spelling homework to learn their 10 spellings, ahead of their spelling test on a Friday. On Mondays, new spellings are given out.
Each term, children are also encouraged to complete a home learning project. For more information on this, see 'Learning Challenge' below.
We expect your child to read each evening. Their progress can be recorded in their planners. Children also have access to a huge range of books on their iPads through J2e, and logging into the Bug Club app. This is something the children can access at home too. Children who read at home are rewarded with house points, which they can spend in the school house point shop!
A minimum of 30 minutes should be spent on Doodle Maths every week. Children can also spend time learning their times tables. Children can access the Times Table Rockstars website and login with their own logins.
We have a Learning Challenge for each term. This term we are exploring 'Why do so many people visit the Mediterranean for their holidays?'
As part of their home learning project, children are encouraged to research a Mediterranean inspired recipe. They could then make the meal inspired by foods from this region of the world. Try tasting some different ingredients, like aubergines, tomatoes, peppers, courgettes, olives, feta cheese.
If your child needs anything at all to help them with this project, please let us know. Children can receive up to 100 house points, for their completed projects, which the children can spend in the house point shop.
We look forward to seeing all the amazing projects your children bring in to share. Have fun!
When it is your child's PE day, they are to wear their PE kit into school. This should consist of plain black shorts or black/dark-coloured bottoms, a plain white t-shirt and good footwear for being active. A school jumper can be worn on top to stay warm, or another plain jumper.
Y4 P.E days are Monday and Thursday.
